- Actively learn about invasive plant pest species in your area and what can be done to reduce their impacts.
- Make a commitment to understand federal and state quarantines related to
invasive plant pest species. For more information on federal quarantines,
please visit the United States Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant
Health Inspection web page- http://www.aphis.usda.gov/. For information
on state quarantines related to plant pests, please visit the NCDA&CSPlant
Industry Division web site- http://www.ncagr.gov/plantindustry/ and
select the Plant Protection Section option.
- Actively look for new plant pests during your daily activities. Should you
detect suspects, immediately report them to the N.C. Department of
Agriculture and Consumer Services-Plant Industry Division by phone
1-800-206-9333 or report by email: newpest@ncagr.gov
- Consider volunteering in your local area with groups involved in invasive species initiatives.
- Encourage and participate in efforts to raise public awareness and policy
related to invasive plant pest species in North Carolina.
